AI in Science and Higher Education

AI has taken hold of science with seemingly lightning speed. Where that road will be taking us is an open question. Part of the answer lies in knowing what is genuine about research, teaching, and studying. We then have a picture into which we can fit AI’s contributions.

For that to work well, we need to have a basic understanding of how AI functions, e.g., to know which AI types we draw on, and how they figure in to good scientific practice.

This coaching’s goal is to support you in pinpointing the original features of working as a scientist and academic teacher, and how to best combine those features with AI features.

We will look at what tools like ChatGPT & Co. can and (at this time) cannot do in science, reflect on their advantages (e.g., inspiration) and risks (e.g., hallucinating), and develop best practice approaches for your research and teaching.
